Sofia's budget for 2007 exceeded 614.5 million leva, deputy mayor Minko Gerdzhikov said during a public budget discussion.
Budget 2006 was 479 million leva.
The budget would be utilised mainly for activities related to Bulgaria's EU membership, ecological problems resolution, improvement of infrastructure of streets, schools and kindergartens, Focus news agency said.
Sofia' cleaning companies will receive 50.5 million leva. The entire sum allocated to the city cleaning amounts to 98 million leva.
More than 147 million leva would be utilised for education and 27.6 million leva, for healthcare, Focus said.
Gerdzhikov also said that Sofia municipality was getting prepared to utilise EU funds. Other former socialist countries managed to utilise only 20 to 25 per cent of the funds in the first year of their EU membership, he said.
