Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC) and the union for electronic communications agreed on trade prices for access to the broadband internet network of BTC, the two parties announced.
BTC and the union had been negotiation the issue for four years, mediapool.bg said.
As a result, BTC’s competitors will be able to offer ADSL services, which were offered only by BTC until now.
Orbitel, Spectrum Net, Nexcom Bulgaria, Net Is Sat, Globul, Vivatel and Evolink are interested in offering ADSL services.
Teodor Zahov, chair of the union, said they were pleased with the agreement. Despite the fact that the union held the negotiations, all other operators would benefit of the results, he said.
No specific prices were mentioned, but according to Zahov, the prices would allow operators to earn enough and would prevent price dumping.
Though he could not exclude the possibility of prices for ADSL services to drop.
