09:00 Tue 09 Jan 2007

The number of British buying property in Veliko Turnovo and the regions located nearby is constantly increasing, Capital newspaper reported.

A number of Brits, buying property in Bulgaria's coastal resorts, are interested in the acquisition of vacation house or a second home. The foreigners purchasing in the Veliko Turnovo area were interested in re-locating permanently to Bulgaria, the report said.

Foreigners showed interest in less popular Bulgarian areas because of the mountain landscape and the authentic feeling preserved in smaller villages.

The northern part of Bulgaria is increasingly gaining popularity among foreign property seekers. Still, the interest in winter resorts remained highest, Capital said.

Interest in turn increases property prices in the villages. To get better offers, foreign investors are looking further north.

Village houses can now be found at lower prices in the regions of Vidin, Lom and Rousse. Property agencies' statistics show that the interest in such unpopular until recently regions was growing.

The foreign community that has already formed in the region, stimulated even more property seekers to look for a house there, Capital reported.
