British Nuclear Group intends to invest in the Bulgarian nuclear energy sector, Economy Minister Roumen Ovcharov said.
Ovcharov accompanies President Georgi Purvanov on his official trip to the UK. During his stay the minister met representatives of British Nuclear Group. They discussed possibilities for involvement of the company in Bulgarian energy projects, Focus news agency reported.
One project involves establishing a British-Bulgarian company that will work both in Britain and Russia for the creation of new nuclear power sources and the closure of old ones. British Nuclear Group is a potential strategic partner, Ovcharov said.
While in London, the minister met one of the Kremikovtzi steel production plant owners, Pramod Mital. Mital is negotiationing a considerable loan to solve some of the factory's problems.
In this way Kremikovtzi will pay back its debts to the country. Mital has already presented his reconstruction plans to the European Commission and expects its final decision in the near future.
