Boyana Film’s executive body called on Bulgarian politicians and Bulgaria’s Prosecutor-General Boris Velchev to cancel the privatisation deal of the film studio, Darik Radio reported.
The company sent an open letter to President Georgi Purvanov, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev, Culture Minister Stefan Danailov and the head of the European Commission delegation to Bulgaria, Dimitris Kourkoulas.
Boyana Film’s privatisation strategy was approved in 2001. Bulgaria’s Privatisation Agency selected US company Nu Image to buy 95 per cent of Boyana Film in 2005. Nu Image has to pay 12.224 million leva and to invest more than 30 million leva in the film studio.
Boyana Film’s open letter insisted on a new and fair procedure for attracting investments to the film studio.
The privatisation deal with Nu Image was to be concluded in the next several days, according to the letter.
