16:27 Mon 10 Mar 2008 - Petar Kostadinov

Stoyan Stoyanov, one of the most successful businessmen in the Black Sea city of Bourgas, has been missing for four days, private broadcaster bTV reported on March 10.

Stoyanov was last heard from on March 6 at about 8pm, when he was returning home back from his office. According to bTV, Stoyanov parked his Lexus in the garage and went up stairs to his apartment, but he got there. Stoyanov was coming home to his eight-year old son and the babysitter who reported him missing.

His mobile phone is still switched off. Police said they were working on a kidnapping version, but that no ransom had been demanded yet. A widower for three years, Stoyanov was living with his pregnant girlfriend, Bourgas newspapers said. His girlfriend is the former wife of Todor Stamov, who is now serving time for extortion.

Investigated for kidnapping and attempted murder, Stamov has been linked to Dimitar Zhelyazkov dubbed Ochite (the eyes), the notorious underground drug boss from the nearby Nessebar town. Zhelyazkov is currently serving four and a half year sentence after confessing to all charges for drug trafficking in exchange for a lighter sentence.

Stoyanov is owner of Graniti construction company, the main supplier of construction materials on the Bulgarian southern Black Sea coast, which has been experiencing a construction boom in recent years. Stoyanov's partner is Angel Hristev, whose company Izidor is the biggest distributor of products from bathroom and kitchen fittings maker American Standard in Bulgaria.

With Stoyanov still missing, Hristev will temporary take over Graniti, the company said in a letter to the media on March 10.
