Bulgarian ambassador to US Elena Poptodorova and US ambassador to Bulgaria John Beyrle set off on a business trip to various US cities.

The trip started with a business forum in Santa Clara, California on May 3 and will end on May 10.

Poptodorova and Beyrle will introduce to US companies business opportunities in Bulgaria in stemming from the country’s EU membership.

Several managers of IT companies took part in the meeting in Santa Clara. They showed their interest in the possibilities to invest in high-tech developments in Bulgaria and tax regulations concerning foreign investment.

Energy and telecommunications are priority sectors for the Bulgarian economy, commercial counselor at the US Embassy in Sofia James Rigassio said.

The business trip will continue to San Francisco, where the diplomats will meet law company representatives.
