Atomstroyexport, the company selected to carry out the construction of first and second blocs of Belene Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), offered a price of no more than 37 euro for megawatt hour of energy produced in the power plant.
The offer of Skoda Allianz, the company that ranked second in the tender, featured a price of 40 to 43 euro for a megawatt hour of energy produced in Belene, Focus news agency reported.
Atomstroyexport's offer was also better in terms of security and the utilisation of the two block, National Electric Company (NEC) representatives told a press conference.
An agreement should be signed within a month, Focus reported. Even if Skoda Allianz decided to appeal the decision, the agreement with Atomstroyexport could be finalised, NEC representatives said.
The reactors that would be used in Belene were of new type, NEC said. Both reactors were of a type approved and certified in the EU, Focus reported.
Atomstroyexport's project met all security requirements.
On the other hand, Skoda Allianz offered better utilisation of the already existing Belene NPP constructions and internationally acknowledged technology for various power plant systems.
