About 2000 Russian experts will work on the construction and equipment of the first 1000MW unit at Belene nuclear power plant, said Gennadi Tepkian, vice president of the Russian nuclear power operator Atomstroiexport.
The workforce is set to increase to 6000 at peak points.
The official was speaking on April 29 during a Moscow-Sofia video conference.
Atomstroiexport was tipped to build Bulgaria’s second nuclear power plant on the Danube.
According to Tepkian, the company ran no delays in preparation works, nor did it envisage any price hike requests. However, it is yet to agree with the project owner, Bulgaria’s power grid operator NEC, on the dispatch of processed nuclear waste in Russia. The design project is ready and the parties are currently co-ordinating the site’s handover.
