Armed and masked men robbed a bank office of SG Expressbank in the centre of Sofia around 11.10 am.

The men attacked the bank guards and broke in the office, an Interior Ministry press release said.

The sum the thieves stole was unestablished yet, the press release said.

Policemen nearby at the time of the crime immediately blocked the area in the vicinities of the bank.

One of the criminals was arrested after a short chase. Only a part of the stolen sum was found in the detained man, the press release said.

The man was arrested after his car crashed on one of the most crowded crossroads in Sofia, Focus news agency reported.

Witnesses said the thieves were dressed in dark clothes resembling police uniforms.

Police is searching for two more men involved in the robbery.
