In both Bourgas and in Yambol, Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) candidates won the second round municipal elections on November 4 2007, both received around 66 per cent of the votes.
The new mayor of Bourgas will be Dimitur Nikolov over Ataka's candidate Valeri Simeonov. In Yambol, GERB candidate Georgy Slavov won over the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) candidate Dimitur Buchvarov.
In Vidin, GERB's Rumen Vidov received 66 per cent of the votes, against current mayor Ivan Tsenov with 34 per cent.
The new mayor in Sliven is GERB candidate Yordan Lechkov, who received 59 per cent of the votes.
In Stara Zagora, Svetlin Tanchev (GERB) received 51 per cent of the votes against almost 49 per cent for the current mayor Evgenii Zjelev (BSP and National Movement for Stability and Progress)
Rouse will keep its BSP mayor Bozhidar Yotov, who won 58 per cent of the vote, against 42 per cent for GERB supported Vanyo Tanov.
Kostadin Paskalev (BSP) will be mayor of Blagoevgrad, where he received 58 per cent of the votes, his opponent Radoslav Taskov (supported by UDF, DSB, Ataka, GERB and former mayor Lazar Prichkov) received 41 per cent.
In Veliko Turnovo, Rumen Rashev (Union of Democratic Forces, Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria) will be the new mayor with 56 per cent of the votes.
