Human rights organisation Amnesty International (AI) was concerned for the wellbeing of the Bulgarian nurses accused of intentional HIV infection in Libya.
Five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor were accused of the intentional HIV infection of more than 400 children in the Benghazi childrens hospital.
The court could either confirm the previously issued death sentences or find the Bulgarians innocent. The next court sitting would take place on October 31, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
AI called on the Libyan court to end the trial without further delay and to keep to international standards.
An AI declaration emphasised that defense and prosecution had to have equal rights when questioning witnesses and presenting pleas.
It was possible that the medics were political prisoners, AI said.
