ALBANIA AND BULGARIA END EURO QUALIFICATION IN A DRAW, FANS CALL FOR RESIGNATIONS
09:01 Thu 29 Mar 2007

Bulgaria surprisingly ended its qualification match for Euro 2008 against Albania in a 0:0 draw.

The draw makes Bulgarias qualification chances very low. Bulgaria has nine points from five matches and will next face Belarus on June 2.

Nearly 20 000 fans witnessed the match. Towards the end of the second half people yelled Resign, discontent with the weak game of Hristo Stoichkovs team.

Vice president of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) Yordan Lechkov said that reasons for resignation existed but the next Euro qualification match was to take place in two months and the team could analyse its mistakes.

Stoichkov said that he was going to pay no attention to the resignation calls.

I am discontent with our performance. We tried to show good football, but sometimes bad things happen When luck is not on your side it simply does not work, Stoichkov said.

hey, well done Albanians. I always thought that they have a good team. With guys playing for Italy's and France's best football teams (e.g. Marseille, Lazio, etc), sure that it was not going to be easy for Stoichkov's team, although he underestimated it. Of course that Albania got the potential to beat any team if they play their best, and Bulgaria is not a great team, is not even good as they pretend to be. In the group, Holland deserves most of the respect, other teams are pretty equal...
