AFTER-FLOOD SITUATION IN BULGARIA NORMALISES

The situation in Bulgarian regions affected by the latest heavy rain and snowfall is beginning to normalise, Interior Ministry representatives said.

Pazardjik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Veliko Turnovo and Kurdjali regions no longer face a state of emergency threat, Focus news agency reported.

Emergency teams from Sofia continue pumping water out of houses in Mirovo, Zhivkovo, Ihtiman, Doganovo, Lesnovo and Elin Pelin.

Several building in the industrial part of Ihtiman remain flooded. The roads to Elin Pelin and Gorna Malina are accessible. Several villages in the Sofia region lack water supply.

Teams control landslide dangerous regions along major roads.

The dike of Maritsa River near Mirovo villages is not broken, the agency reported, countering previous threat alerts.

A number of roads in the Sofia region remain inaccessible. The passage of vehicles through Capitan Andreevo border point is stopped and redirected to the Lesovo border checkpoint.

The state of emergency in Suedinenie municipality was cancelled.
