Korean manufacturer KIA has started its European quest. At KIA’s stand a real “European” model will make its debut. It is painted in a European design centre, produced in a European factory and is sold only in Europe. The cee’d model has a European price of 25 000 leva (VAT incl) as well. This is the starting price but KIA is offering a seven-year warranty (five for the entire vehicle and another two for the engine), unique to Europe, or a total 150 000 km mileage (previously, the best offer in Bulgaria so far has been a five-year warranty).
KIA’s offer is tempting because the cee’d basic equipment features ABS, air conditioning, CD player, electronic windows, 10 air bags, and board computer. It even offers the option for plugging in USB and iPODs. It took KIA’s cee’d exactly one year to go from the drawing board to the production line.
It cost the company an investment of $1 billion. cee’d fits in the C-segment and the engines in the medium class show great performance and dynamics and guarantee low fuel consumption (from 5 to 6.5 litre a 100 km).
The diesel common rail engines come in the shape of 1.6-litre and 2-litre engines of 90 hp and 140 hp, respectively. Customers can choose from three petrol engines – 1.4-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre engines with 109 hp, 122 hp and 143 hp, respectively. EuroNAP has given the model of a five-star safety rating. There is no doubt that the stylish design of cee’d’s interior deserves the same rating.
