It has become a trend for Honda models to be years ahead of other vehicle manufacturers in design and technology.
At the Sofia Motor show, the Japanese brand will mount its attack with the new Honda Civic Type R where the “R” stands for “racing” and the “racing” defines the sporty nature of the vehicle.
It has a 2-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine with 210 hp. This guarantees acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 secs and a top speed of 235 km/h.
The vehicle’s qualities are evident not just from the figures but also from its design.
The aerodynamic styling is apparent even from a distance, with powerful air tubes, aggressive lines, and a sporty interior built around the driver.
The Type R comes with three doors but its silhouette offers the comfort of a five-door vehicle with spacious interior and boot. Despite this, the design of Type R is aggressive, resembling a sports coupe rather than a hatchback model. Unlike the Type S model (also a premiere at this motor show) or the Honda models, the front and the side bumpers of Type R match the colour of the body, and the rear bumper and the grille (black, not made of glass) have bigger air intakes.
Honda has employed a bold approach in designing the interior, which offers red and black shades. The sporty spirit of Type R is evident in every small detail, from the signs on the brake callipers, the H-logo, the standard 18-inch tyres and the aerodynamics of the coupe. Type R price is 58 868 leva VAT included.
