The Indian movie Dus Kahaniyaan (Ten Stories) wraps up the August art house-film Thursdays at on August 21 at 9pm at Dom na Kinoto in Sofia.
Its 10 short films come together to form a 115-minute feature directed by Jasmeet Dhodhi, Meghna Gulzar, Sanjay Gupta, Apoorva Lakhia, Hansal Mehta and Rohit Roy, where each is in charge of his or her own segment(s). The point of unity is that it puts the most talked-about names in Indian cinema on screen in a single final product.
Among these are, in Gupta's film Matrimony, which was based on Roald Dahl's short story Mrs Bixby and the Colonel's Coat, the actors Arbaaz Khan, Mandira Bedi and Sudhanshu Pandey; in Mehta's High on the Highway, the actors Jimmy Shergill and Masumeh Makhija; in Gulzar's Pooranmasi, the actors Amrita Singh, Parmeet Sethi and Minnisha Lamba; in Gupta's Strangers in the Night, Mahesh Manjrekar and former Miss India Neha Dhupiain; in Rice Plate by Roy, Bollywood charmer Shabana Azmi and the winner of the award for best actor at the Venice Film Festival Naseeruddin Shah; and in Gupta's Rise & Fall, which was inspired by Ching Po-Wong's Blood Brothers, Sunil Shetty and the two-time winner of the best actor award at the Bombay film festival Sanjay Dutt.
Dus Kahaniyaan was released in India on December 7 2007. It is being shown in Bulgaria on the initiative of local production company Pozor, as part of its Kuso לּ Suedinenie (Short לּ Circuit) project.
