The snow cover in the region of Petrohan pass in the Stara Planina Mountain reached 15cm.
The road was cleaned and covered with sand, Alexander Iliev from the regional road directorate told Focus news agency.
Temperature was minus three degrees Celsius and the snow stopped falling.
As a preventive measure, cargo vehicles were banned from entering the pass with trailers and semi-trailers.
Petrohan is one of the few passes connecting Southern and Northern Bulgaria, separated by Stara Planina. It is the closest one to Sofia.
On the other end of the pass, in the region of Montana, rain is falling. The 13-cm snow cover from the past two days had melted, Iliev said.
