Central Electoral Commission (CEC) in Bulgaria registered 71 parties and coalitions to take part in the municipal elections in October 2007.
A total of 84 parties applied for a registration until now, CEC said as quoted by Bulgarian news agency BTA.
Most of the parties and coalitions, which were denied registration, nine, appealed CEC’s decision before the Supreme Administrative Court.
Only one party, the Green Party, was registered after it won the appeal.
Two of the main fractions in the Parliament, United Democratic Forces and National Movement for Progress and Stability, still have not applied for registration.
The deadline for registration is 7pm on September 12 2007.
