Seven additional territories in Bulgaria are to be included in the European environmental network Natura 2000.
On December 11 2007, Environment and Water Affairs Minister Djevdet Chakurov signed the draft-orders for the proclamation of these areas as protected by Natura 2000, the ministry media statement said.
Among the newly protected areas included the Chengene Skele bay and Pomoriisko lake, investor.bg said.
The other areas were Maluk Preslavets marsh and Gaarvansko marsh near Silistra, the Belene islands and Golya island in the Danube River, as well as Ribarnitsi Plovdiv, breeding-ponds near Plovdiv.
The draft-orders could be objected to within one month, starting December 12 2007.
