Nearly 69 per cent of the Bulgarians taking part in a poll on organ donation said that potential donors should declare in person they were willing to become such.
According to changes in organ transplantation regulations each Bulgarian would be a potential donor, unless signing a declaration forbidding organ donation, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
According to the National Public Opinion Centre (NPOC) survey, 46 per cent of the Bulgarians were unaware of the proposed changes.
Only 31 per cent believe that each person should become a donor, unless the opposite was declared in person.
The survey also shows 38 per cent of the Bulgarians were willing to become organ and tissue donors after their death.
