Bulgaria’s State Agency for Tourism (SAT) could utilise more than 30.6 million euro for tourism promotion, Regional Development Ministry representative Georgi Stoev said.
The sum will be provided by the European Union structural funds. It has to be utilised between 2007 and 2013, mediapool.bg reported.
Stoev presented a programme for regional development during a national conference in Sofia on December 13 2006. The conference was dedicated to investment in the tourism sector and EU structural funds utilisation.
The programme would provide at least 204.1 million euro for tourism projects funding, mediapool.bg said.
Most of the money, 143 million euro, will be invested in the development of tourist attractions and in infrastructure.
Nearly three million euro will be invested in Black Sea coastal development. Initially the cost was excluded from the investment plans of the programme.
