Land owners, whose land is included in Natura 2000 European environment network, will receive compensations varying from 20 to 200 euro per hectare per year, Agriculture and Forestry Ministry said.
The compensation will be provided to land owners to enable them comply with Natura 2000 regulations, mediapool.bg said.
Biggest compensation will be provided for restoration of plantations of perennial plants. Land owners who refrain from using fertilisers in arable areas will receive nearly 60 euro per hectare.
Owners who put signs showing bird nests will receive 10 to 15 euro per hectare. If they leave some areas where bird species nest uncultivated, the compensation will reach 100 euro per hectare.
Up to 500 euro compensation is available if owners invest in the preservation of species or habitats, or if they install facilities for the birds and animals in the preserved areas.
An Agriculture and Forestry Ministry agency will be founded to control the process. If land owners fail to follow the restrictions, they will be deprived of compensation.
