112 EMERGENCY LINE TO BE INTRODUCED IN BULGARIA
18:19 Thu 02 Aug 2007

The Cabinet has decided that Bulgaria will join the European toll-free 112 emergency line system.

Existing emergency numbers for medical aid, the fire brigade and police, respectively 150, 160 and 166, would continue functioning, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.

The new emergency call system would give people fast and easy access to emergency services in the event of civil disorder, fire or accidents, according to Bulgarian news agency BTA.

Emergency 112 centres will be established in all the regions in the country.

The centres will work 24 hours throughout the week and will pass on calls to the relevant emergency service.
