Increases in prices of natural gas have prompted Bulgaria’s State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission to approve increases in heating prices of close to 13 per cent with effect from April 1 2012.
Increases in various places will range from four to just more than 12 per cent. In capital city Sofia, heating prices will increase by nine per cent.
The price increase in Plovdiv will be more than 10.5 per cent, in Varna seven per cent, in Vratsa more than 8.5 per cent and in the town of Shoumen, by 7.15 per cent – meaning that in that town, heating will cost 121 leva (just more than 60 euro) a megawatt-hour.
