The British Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce (BBCC), which hosted an entertaining Burns Night reception on Friday January 27, managed to raise 2340 leva for the Cedar Foundation during the post-dinner auction sale.

The net proceeds will be remitted to the Cedar Foundation, aims to give disadvantaged people in Bulgaria a better quality of life, later this week.

"This was our first step into the world of asking our Members to support worthwhile charitable causes, and I hope we can do even better as we gain experience," said Bill Drysdale, chairman of the BBCC.

The Burns Night dinner at the Hilton hotel was very well attended and punctuated by bagpipes from a Cambridge undergraduate whose flight was diverted to Bucharest because of bad weather.
