Snow plows in Romania are battling blizzard conditions on Thursday January 26 as they assist hundreds of stranded motorists.

Streets across Romania are littered with vehicles that are stuck or have been abandoned.

The snowstorm, along with icing conditions, has disrupted flights and caused train delays in and out of Bucharest, the capital.

The storm which has dumped more than three metres of snow across Romania and eastern and central Europe is expected to last through Thursday January 26.
