The Bulgarian survivors, reportedly numbering eight, of the shipwrecked Italian cruise liner Costa Concordia would return home soon, Bulgarian National Radio reported on January 15 2012.

The Costa Concordia ran aground on January 13 in the Tiranian Sea off the northern Italian coast and flipped on its side with a breach in its hull, the Voice of America reported.

Three people have been confirmed dead and 30 were injured while 40 were still missing on January 15. The dead reportedly were two French citizens and a Peruvian crew member.

On January 15, rescue workers said that they had made contact with a third survivor.

The Italian captain of the ship, Francesco Schettino, was taken into custody on January 14 after several hours of questioning. Italian news agency ANSA said that Schettino could be facing several charges, including homicide and abandonment of the ship. Reports alleged that he had quit the ship well before the passengers.
