Sean and Ben, two best friends in their mid-20s - the one impulsive, the other level-headed - travel to Moscow for a business meeting. They are good-looking tech nerds and have developed some kind of phone application that allows strangers to meet up in foreign lands. When their meeting doesn't work out, and they realise they've been taken for a ride, they decide to use their own product to hook up with two girls at a bar in the city centre. But before the evening is even in full swing, aliens arrive and start wreaking havoc on Mother Earth.
In a way, it's lucky for Sean and Ben there is an alien invasion their first night in the city, because otherwise these two guys wouldn't have had much else to do in Moscow except make fun of the Cyrillic alphabet.
The aliens, more or less invisible, are a form of sentient microwaves that are scouring the planet looking for energy and vaporising all humans in sight so they can quench their thirst for minerals and other conductive elements. The scenes in which they silently stalk and attack their human prey, before switching off the lights inside their bodies, are so extremely graphic the audience is bound to laugh at the spectacle.
