Feo Mustakova-Genadieva, one of Bulgaria’s top ballet legends, has died at the age of 102, the Ministry of Culture said on December 30 2011.

Mustakova-Genadieva was born in Thessaloniki in Greece on June 14 1909.

The ministry said that she would be remembered for her unique personality, the depth and power of her artistic effects, "which quite deservedly won her the most sincere and high honour among audiences, not only at home but around the world: ‘The talented Bulgarian’."

She performed at the Folies Bergère and Lido in France, going on to ballet performances on the big stages of Europe and the United States, the ministry said.

As one of the country’s best ballet teachers, Mustakova-Genadieva launched the careers of a whole constellation of Bulgarian dancers at the Stefan Makedonski State Musical Theatre, the statement said.
