Police in Sofia arrested a 31-old-man who was detained by security guards after attempting to fit a skimming device to a bank’s automatic teller machine in the centre of the Bulgarian capital city, the Interior Ministry said on December 4 2011.

An accomplice who also had been detained by security guards, who had noticed two men behaving suspiciously, got away and was sought by police.

The incident took place on the night of December 3 at an ATM in Bulgaria Boulevard.

The police said that the man in custody had a considerable criminal record, including murder, obstructing the work of the police and falsifying motor vehicle chassis numbers.
