Sofia Live Club is proving an ever-popular destination for jazz enthusiasts and lovers of old-style "chanson" music as proven by a full house on Friday November 12 for The Sentimental Swingers.
The previous weekend (November 6) had seen a well received concert by Roma group RomaNeno who performed alongside conductor and violinist Maxim Eshkenazy
The most recent concert saw the Sentimental Swingers, Andronia, Dessy and Vera Shandel, performing alongside the Mihail Yossifov sextet – Mihail Yossifov (trumpet), Atanas Hadzhiev (tenor sax), Velislav Stoyanov (trombone), Vassil Spassov (piano), Dimitar Shanov (bass) and Dimitar Dimitrov on the drums.
Saturday's repertoire included Chatanooga Choo Choo, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Sing Sing sing, Rum and Coca Cola, Shoo Shoo Baby, Tico Tico, Michael Jackson's Blame it on the Boogie, Accentuate the Positive, Chanson Rose ((music Misho, lyrics Andre Chandelle), Momche Momche (Yossif Tzankov music/lyrics Mariy Rossen), Sing it Back (Moloko) and Don't Say ((written by Dessy from Sentimental Swingers) and Kervanat (Yossif Tzankov) and Betty Hutton's It's Oh So Quiet.
Thankfully, unlike many other such venues in Sofia, the atmosphere is smoke-free, making it more attractive to most concertgoers.
Tickets for the gig will cost between 70 leva and 200 leva, going on sale on April 27, Sofia Music Enterprises said. These can be bought online at ticketpro.bg.
