A 40-year-old Bulgarian man who allegedly filmed sex acts with boys has been remanded in custody by Pleven District Court after being arrested on August 26 2011, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) said.

At his home, police found computers and discs containing pornographic material.

Roumen Zahariev is alleged to have used the internet to lure boys for sex. He is said to have posed using various identities and professions, inviting the boys to Pleven for sex acts which he then filmed.

BNR quoted prosecutor Diana Markova as saying that the charges that the accused faced were severe, including sex acts with minors.

Zahariev’s computer records, including videos and other files, were being examined to establish the identities of his alleged victims.

It was clear that the boys were not only from Pleven, the report said.

Investigators were seeking to establish whether there was a channel for illegal distribution of the recordings, by checking the IP addresses with which the accused is alleged to have exchanged data online.

Markova said that the State Agency for Child Protection was investigating whether protection for the accused’s 10-year-old son was required.
