A foundation has organised night bicycle tours of Sofia, Bulgarian television station bTV said on August 18 2011.

The group ride starts at 8.30pm at Ariana Lake and is about 20km, the report said.

The route passes Parliament and Alexander Nevsky cathedral, via Moskovska Street to Sveta Nedelya Square, on to Vitosha Boulevard and the National Palace of Culture, NDK, and to South Park for a route that takes about half-an-hour, from there returning up Vitosha Boulevard via Solunska Street to the Ivan Vazov National Theatre.

It is the 10th time the initiative is being held and the idea is to repeat the bike ride every Thursday night until the end of summer, resuming in 2012.

The night bike rides so far have attracted about 150 cyclists, aged from their mid-teens to their 60s, the report said.

The idea is to join in an event that is fun, open-air and helps to relieve the stress of the week, bTV said.
