American scientific writer Jonathan Weiner will present his new book Long for this World:The Strange Science of Immortality, in Sofia between June 9-11 2011, Dnevnik daily reported.

Jonathan Weiner will speak to university students at New Bulgarian University (21 Montevideo Str.) on June 10 at 11.20am.

The Helikon-Vistosha bookstore (68 Patriarh Evtimii Blvdr) will host the official presentation of his book at 6.30pm on June 10.

Long for this World:The Strange Science of Immortality deals with the long-sought secret of eternal youth - whether it is possible or not - and how much modern science has done in the field.

The writer goes through centuries and intellectuals; from Berkeley to the Bronx, from Cambridge University to Dante's tomb in Ravenna, Weiner meets various public figures in the field and looks into into the mind-blowing science behind the latest research.

Weiner traces the  fascinating history of the quest for long-living in art, science, and literature, from Gilgamesh to Shakespeare, from Doctor Faustus through to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Among other awards, Weiner won the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
