Both Bulgarian representatives at the Australian Open in Melbourne, Grigor Dimitrov and Tsvetana Pironkova are packing for home after they were eliminated from the tournament.

Dimitrov, was defeated in the second round 5-7, 3-6, 3-6 by Stanislas Wawrinka on January 19 2011.

Wawrinka, who ranks 19th in the world, was superior throughout the match, especially in the last two sets, although Dimitrov fought bravely and gave the Swiss a run for his money.

Dimitrov is now 85th in the ATP rankings, making him the highest ranked Bulgarian tennis player ever.

Unfortunately, Bulgaria's top female player Pironkova is also leaving the tournament, after losing 4-6 1-6 to Romanian Monica Niculescu.

The defeat is attributed not so much to the Romanian's superiority, but the poor Pironkova performance instead. She clocked numerous unforced errors, which led to her dropping out of Melbourne open in the second round for a fourth consecutive year.
