The National Assembly has rejected a proposal made by members of the Order, Law and Justice party (OLJ) and the Coalition for Bulgaria, that Interior Minister Tsvetanov should explain before Parliament his earlier comments that former prosecutor general Nikola Filchev was possibly involved in the murder of prosecutor Nikolai Kolev and Yambol lawyer Nadezhda Georgieva, Bulgarian media reported on November 17 2010.

It is improper for the Bulgaria Interior Minister to be "sentencing" people on television shows, Yane Yanev, leader of the OLJ, said. He added that Tsvetanov must clarify his accusations.

Meanwhile, Filchev also made television appearances, first in a morning talk show of the private Bulgarian television channel bTV and then on Nova TV, where he repeated his argument that the accusations of his involvement in the murder of Kolev emanate from the "latter's distraught wife".

But, according to the Bulgarian mass circulation daily Trud, Filchev said that anything is possible in relation to the accusations of the Interior Minister.

"Anything is possible, even orders for my arrest. Bearing in mind the Balkan mentality and the nervousness of the Interior Minister I would not be surprised," he said.

"If the evidence is sufficient, let them handcuff me and take me to court," he added.

Indeed, he is right, anything is possible in a country run by crooks, former crooks, their relatives, cronies and allies.
