An exhibition of the globally threatened Imperial Eagle will be shown starting November 10 at the St Kliment Ohridski metro station in Sofia, a media statement has announced.

The bird, a symbol of Bulgaria and also immortalised at the nearby Eagle Bridge, is about to disappear from the Bulgarian countryside.

In the past, the Imperial Eagle was one of the most common raptors across the Bulgarian mountains, but currently there are only about 25 pairs left in the wild.

Organisers of the exhibition are the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, part of the LIFE + project for the preservation of Imperial Eagle and Saker Falcon.
