Bulgaria’s Patent Office carried out a series of inspections in August 2010 in Sofia and various other towns, finding more than 1500 fake items, the office said in a media statement on August 30.

Working with the Interior Ministry and the Customs Agency, the office found counterfeit sportswear, footwear, handbags, mobile phones and accessories, the office said.

Fakes of brands including Lacoste, Puma, Armani, D & G, Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Bulgari, Adidas, Jean Paul Gaultier, Louis Vuitton and Chanel were found during the checks, which were carried out in the capital city, at the seaside and in the regions of Sandanski and Svilengrad, according to the statement.

Thirty-two charges for faking goods were drawn up, the Patent Office said.
