A woman died on August 28 2010 after a motorist, allegedly making an illegal turn, lost control of his car and crashed into a bus stop in a Sofia residential area.

The accident happened in Montevideo Boulevard in Gorna Banya. Bulgarian National Television (BNT) uoted eyewitnesses as saying that the accident involved two vehicles, but they alleged that it was the fault of the motorist attempting the illegal turn.

Residents said that even though police regularly were on duty to monitor traffic, it was common practice for motorists to turn illegally at the junction.

BNT said that it was not the first time in Sofia that some had died in a motor collision while waiting for public transport. A few years ago, a motorist who was overtaking hit and killed a 32-year-old woman at a bus stop in Bulgaria Boulevard.

the tradgedy is that, as in this case, it's usually the innocent who suffer.
