A technical malfunction has caused another power blackout at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, media reports said on August 16 2010.

Part of the coastal town of Chernomorets and the Gradina camping site in the south east have been left without electricity because of a power breakdown.

Power cuts are also expected the Pleven Municipality because of maintenance works that are scheduled to last from August 16-20, the private Bulgarian television channel bTV said. Areas which will be affected will include Dolma Mitropolia, Dolni Dubnik and Gulyantsi.

Several parts of the country suffered power cuts in the past few days because of malfunctions, caused mainly by over-consumption.

Along the Black Sea coast, the National Electric Company (NEK) said that periodic power cuts from time to time will have to be implemented in order to avoid a larger meltdown caused by the enormous electricity consumption during the summer holidays, bTV said.

Currently technicians are working to fix the problem around Sozopol and the southeast. Over the weekend there were power cuts in the North Black Sea coast as well.
