A 'European Youth Guarantee' to ensure that young people do not remain jobless for more than four months is among proposals made by MEPs in a resolution adopted on July 6 2010 on improving access to the labour market for young people.
An increase in the number of retirees, and a consequent higher burden to the pension fund, is expected if these proposals become law.
Retirement age to remain the same, but more years working will be required to qualify for the pension.
