A Sofia taxi driver kills a colleague over a client

A quarrel over a client in the Sofia borough of Mladost between two taxi drivers turned fatal after one of them struck the other with a spade and killed him, Bulgarian media said.

A 33-year-old taxi driver allegedly killed another driver, aged 57 and from Sofia, at a taxi rank in Mladost 3 because of a fare dispute. The incident happened at about 1.30pm on July 14 2010.

"A police patrol was dispatched to the scene after a report that a fight had occurred," local news agency Focus said.

The police were called by an eye witness who told the authorities that the two taxi drivers had got into a fight. By the time the police patrol arrived, one of the taxi drivers was lying in a pool of blood .

Reportedly, the man was killed with a spade. He was taken to hospital but died of his injuries. The alleged perpetrator was arrested for murder after several eyewitnesses made statements.

During interrogation, he made a full confession, police said
