A group of Roma youths attacked and viciously battered a middle-aged Bulgarian man in a Sofia bus late on July 12 because the man had asked them to stop smoking in the vehicle, Bulgarian television channel bTV said.

At about 11pm, a group of young men, all of them Roma, boarded the 309 bus which runs from Stochna Gara to the borough of Lyulin. The group then lit cigarettes and started smoking in the bus, when Goran Tornyov asked them to stop.

The group then assaulted him, eyewitnesses said. To protect himself, the man pulled out his service issue sidearm and fired into the vehicles' ceiling. After that the Roma ran away from the bus, although some wanted to drag Tomyov out of the bus.

"Every night is like this. The 309 bus is one of the most dangerous in Sofia," the bus driver said. "Such things happen all the time, we are also in danger, I have no idea how they didn't attack me as well," according to the driver, who asked not to be named.

Reportedly, a police patrol apprehended all the Roma involved in the attack some time later.

Would it be acceptable to say some "wogs" or "niggers" were involved in a fight in an anglo country?
Would it be acceptable to promote murder on a website...?
Would this be even reported if a bulgrian kid did it?
Would it be even reported if Bulgarians beat a gypsy "konteinerzhii"?
Thats why Bulgarska je rezil

What about the bus drivers, not only on #309, but all buses, are enabled to call the police, and fast?
This one, on #309,could have called police the moment smoking started on the bus.!!!
Wishy washy PC attempts have not worked for 20 years, so get with it, mates. Stop aid after 1st child, stop assistance if obligatory schooling is not done, and you will see results.

"reportedly a police patrol apprehended all the Roma involved in the attack sometime later" This is the kind of reporting and recording of crime that is just not satisfactory either the Roma WERE apprehended, or the were not whatever the answer "reportedly" is not acceptable journalism or recorded arrest.

The fact that they are Roma is beside the point. In the UK, you could substitute any noun for Roma and it has happened at some time or other (and still does, frequently). "F*g mangali"'s approach is tempting but "sad"'s is probably a bit more enlightened. It is a universal problem, in this day and age, and needs to be addressed, and rapidly, before we all sink into oblivion.

Editorial: Roma inclusion

The firm actions by the French government to deport Roma involved in crime and public disorder have again brought to the fore the fact that Europe has failed to do enough to come to terms with this group.
