At 6.30pm, on May 27, cabaret artist Marco Manera will perform a spectacle "Sicilitudine" depicting Sicilian life, organised by Casa Sicilia Bulgaria.
On Sunday May 30 2010, Ecoterra, the Bulgarian subsidiary of the Italian Rigoni di Asiago, will host the Day of Strawberry at the Berkovitsa fields to celebrate the beginning of the Italian festival in Bulgaria.
These two events will launch the Italian festival, which will run from June 1 until June 11. Look for posters and figures on shop windows depicting the festival logo. You will find stores, restaurants, and other outlets in Sofia’s centre selling Italian goods. You can follow the route round some of Sofia’s most prestigious streets where you will find promotional events about Italy and her goods, all aiming to win over Bulgarian consumers and make them permanent and long-term clients.
The key sectors will encompass the traditional fields for which Italy is renowned: furniture, lighting, textiles, shoes, jewellery, cars, wines and foodstuffs. Special promotional and communications initiatives will be launched in certain places where goods are sold.
The Italian festival aims to target not only the different sectors and segments of the Bulgarian public, but also the country’s expat community and all other potential customers - aficionados of Italy, admirers of Italian fashion and design, the professionals, the authorities, the media and, of course, young people.
The Made in Italy motif will provide for a very exciting and different "tour" around Sofia, composed of that unique combination of creativity and innovation, of technology integration and crafts, as well as meticulous attention to detail and quality, all factors that make Italian goods unique and esteemed worldwide.
Other shops will sell promotional merchandise of Italian goods distributed in Bulgaria. Additionally, new production lines, models and designs will be displayed. Displays will also be organised on the streets, as well as PR events, competitions and lotteries complete with prizes. Theme dinners will be organised for the food sector, complete with demonstrations and tutorial courses organised by leading Italian restaurants in Sofia.
In the fashion sector, two shows will be organised in the store The Wall, as well as PR events in the stores of Ermanno Scervino, Ferragamo, Bulgari and La Perla e Sisley, all of them on Suborna and Kaloyan streets.
The award ceremony for the children’s art competition will be staged in one of the Benetton Group centres, with the participation of Luciano Benetton.
In the furniture sector, representatives from the SENZA stores will present the latest technologies and production lines available.
Meanwhile, Italian cars will be promoted with the co-operation of Avtounion, the official importer of Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Maserati. Visitors will be able to test drive the new Punta EVO.
There will also be a week of Sicilian food in the Lavazza restaurant and a week of Piedmont kitchen in the Osteria di Sofia restaurant. Pizza Day will be held in Leo’s Pizza restaurant, while professionals can enjoy a tutorial course for pizza-making with the participation of the Euro Tokes Association Bulgaria.
There is also the blue fish week, organised by Casa Sicilia Bulgaria, combined with the tasting of Sicilian wines during the festival. Additionally, there will be two weeks of promotion of Italian goods in Verde supermarkets.
Traditionally, on June 10, Italian foods and wines from genuine importers and representatives will be on display, as well as distributers, plus the HoReCa association - all for specialised media.
Many Italian producers will be embarking on the Bulgarian market for the first time. All those events will be staged with the mutual co-operation of Bulgarian distributors and Italian brands. Invitations will be forwarded to the best clients, the media and the public. As usual, the festival will consist of seminars, meetings and presentations.
The festival in 2010 will also feature the following key events:
June 1-3 - Seminar & Workshop. "Scents and tastes of Made in Italy" - dedicated to the Italian tradition of agricultural tourism, the safety of food products, heritage and naming process, with the co-operation of Coldiretti Lombardia, Giubilesi&Associati and the Bresha Cook Association.
