BDZ to increase seating capacity and facilitate traffic over St George weekend

The Bulgarian state rail company (BDZ) will deploy extra carriages to a total of 105 express trains over the St George four-day weekend to facilitate expected heavy traffic across the country, Bulgarian media reported.

In total, BDZ are saying they will make available about 10 000 extra seats for the mass exodus from urban centres which is expected to begin from May 5. The extra capacity will be arranged for trains serving the "busiest" lines in the country between May 5-10, the report said.

The express trains Bourgas Weekend and Varna Weekend will be running on May 5-6, preliminary reservations for which are mandatory.

Extra carriages will be provided for trains between Sofia and Bourgas, and Sofia Yambol. On May 9-10, extra capacity will be provided for trains serving lines between Sofia, Plovdiv, Yambol and Vratsa.
