The deadline for submitting tax declarations in Bulgaria is April 30, the National Revenue Agency (NRA) said. To meet the expected rush, all NRA offices will work without a lunch break as experience from previous years shows that many people wait until the very last day to file their tax declarations.

It is also the final day on which people can pay their income tax for 2009 without interest. Any tax paid after April 30 will be subject to interest, the NRA said.

This also applies to those who chose to pay their tax via bank transfer on April 30, since processing the money can take more than one day, in which case interest would be due.

Filing income tax declaration can be done in any of NRA’s offices or can be sent via post or online by using e-signature.

The form can be found on NRA’s website, where all the taxpayer must do is input the amount of income he or she has received in 2009 with the respective social and health care contributions due and the software will automatically calculate the income tax that has to be paid.

Because it has to be signed by an electronic signature and it costs about 40 EUR per year and before using it you still have to physically go to the tax administration's office, which negates the benefit of having one such signature.
There is an option of e-filing of course, for those having e-signature.
