Anyu Angelov (67) – Defence Minister (since January 2010)

Anyu Angelov is a retired Lieutenant-General, a graduate of Bulgaria' former top artillery school and the military academy. He also holds a degree in radio engineering. Angelov is a former head of Bulgaria's anti-aircraft forces, later serving as the deputy commander of the armed forces and deputy Chief of Staff of the armed forces. He was Bulgaria's military attache to United Kingdom in 1997/2000 and head of Bulgaria's military academy in 2000/02.

He was appointed Deputy Defence Minister in August 2009 and replaced Nikolai Mladenov as Defence Minister in January 2010 after the latter was given the Foreign Affairs portfolio.
