The Bulgarian Government has given permission to Ecuador to open a consulate in Sofia, a Government media statement said on March 17 2010.

According to Dnevnik daily, Ecuador has requested the appointment of Zahari Angelov Koushev as honorary consulate. His primary task would be to stimulate bilateral trade and cultural co-operation between Bulgaria and Ecuador.

Concurrently, the Bulgarian Cabinet also approved the appointment of Tihomir Ivanov Trendafilov as honorary consul of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria, to be based in Plovdiv.

The honorary consulate of Ecuador will encompass all of Bulgaria, whereas that of Kazakhstan will cover the municipalities of Bourgas, Yambol, Sliven, Haskovo, Kurdjali, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and Pazarjik.

I live in ecuador and it is a wonderful country. Its people are so nice and kind, they will give you the most warming welcome. Ihave put together a helpful afct sheet, and also an article on Ecuadorian manners and customs

I am puzzled about the "communist-era sheet". The appointment of honorary consuls is a world diplomatic practice. As a rule the honorary consuls are educated, respected and sophisticated persons. They work voluntary and without any payment. I can not see what taz's problem is.
