Levski Sofia supporters will follow the model set by the fans of Manchester United and will attend their March 20 fixture against Slavia Sofia wearing red and yellow scarves in protest at their club president Todor Batkov, Bulgarian media reported.

Manchester United, whose current official home colours are red, white and black, traces its way choice of colours back to the early years of Newton Heath FC in 1878, when the works team of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway depot at Newton Heath, formed the club, its original colours being yellow and green.

Levski Sofia's original colours upon formation in 1914 were yellow and red. Its supporters are at war with the club's president Todor Batkov and demand that he sells his share and leave the club. However, his asking price of 15 million euro for the moment remains beyond reach.

Batkov himself said he was prepared to leave the club if his asking price was met.

While Levski supporters are yet to come up with 15 million euro, the Red Knights of Manchester have already gathered 1.5 billion pounds sterling in their bid to seize control of Manchester United.

The Glazer family, however, have insisted that the champions are not for sale. The Red Knights believe that the club is worth about 1 billion pounds, while the Glazers’ valuation — which they claim does not equate to an asking price — is about 1.2 billion.
